Would you like to apply to start a PhD thesis at the MSTII Doctoral School? You've come to the right place!
You will need 4 elements to apply:
1-a thesis topic related to the Doctoral School's themes 2- a potential advisor, HDR affiliated to the Doctoral School and to a research laboratory and available 3-sufficient funding for 36 months of doctoral studies 4- a good or very good academic record, appropriate to the project (hold a Master's degree, or an engineering diploma, or the international equivalent, obtained with a good or very good academic record, particularly in the subject areas of the thesis). Find out more about the composition of the academic file here
How to Apply to the Doctoral School? First check whether your PhD project already listed on ADUM.
Apply directly. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
Your application will be evaluated by the proposed supervisor, usually through an interview.
(In some cases, this evaluation may already have taken place. In that case, the supervisor will simply record their assessment in ADUM.)
The Doctoral School will then review your application, based on the supervisor’s opinion and their current availability to supervise.
(In some cases, the Doctoral School may have already issued a letter of commitment—this step will confirm it, but is still required in the process.)
You will be informed of the final decision by the Doctoral School.
ℹ️ If the project does not have secured funding,
You may apply through the Doctoral School's competitive admission process (usually held in May–June).
The evaluation process is the same as described above, but follows a synchronized calendar.
The Doctoral School will assess your application after the submission deadline.
More information about the competitive process can be found [here].
❌ No, the project is not yet listed on ADUM
ℹ️ The simplest solution:
Ask your prospective supervisor to post the project on ADUM.
Then, the problem has reduced to the previous case, and to the steps above (after all, we are a doctoral school in mathematics and computer science !).
ℹ️ Alternatively, if you already have everything in place
(the project, the supervisory team, and the funding),
You can submit the project yourself via ADUM as a “Spontaneous (unsollicited) Application.”
This often applies in cases involving CDSN or CIFRE funding, or for applicants with employment contracts (CDI, CDD).
