Joint Doctorate (Cotutelle)

Preparing a thesis under joint supervision with a foreign university means that the research work will be carried out in parallel at two universities (one French, one foreign), with a view to obtaining a doctorate from each of the two universities.
This means that each year, right up to the final examination, you will have to
  • registration at both institutions
  • stays at both institutions
A host laboratory and a research team (i.e. a thesis director) at each institution,
A cotutelle agreement defines the conditions under which the thesis will be carried out and sets out the operating rules. It is drawn up and signed by the two partner institutions.
The terms and conditions are defined in the Order of 26 May 2016, Title III, articles 20 to 23.
