How to enter the Doctoral School
The doctoral School of the University Grenoble Alpes (UGA) is composed of 13 Doctoral Schools from the Université Grenoble AlpesPhD student must register at the Université Grenoble Alpes after their admission to one Doctoral School.
There are 3 steps to joining a doctoral school:
1- Application to the Doctoral School
2- Pedagogical registration after approval by the Doctoral School
3- Administrative registration with the doctoral school's STS management center (schooling department).
The application is based on 4 essential elements
- A diploma :
- a Master of Research diploma (with master thesis)
- an Engineer diploma
- any equivalent diploma
- A subject for your PhD
- A PhD supervisor which is an HDR from the Doctoral School.
- A laboratory from the Doctoral School list (see laboratories tab)
- A proof of funding for 36 months, the duration of your PhD.
The application file includes :
- The signed application form; see Creating an unsolicited application form- a CV
- Details of thesis project (1 page)
- Letter of recommendation from thesis supervisor (selection process >> interview or meeting ...)
- Proof of funding for 3 years or funding certificate for scholarship holders (indicate monthly amount)
- For applicants with a French degree
> a copy of the transcript of the last diploma obtained
> copy of diploma allowing access to thesis or attestation of successful completion.
- For candidates holding a foreign diploma
> a certified copy of the transcript of the last diploma obtained, in English or with a translation into English or French
> a certificate from the home university explaining the grading system used
> certified copies of all university diplomas obtained (originals must be presented to the ED prior to administrative registration)
> a summary in English of the Master's thesis or extract(s) of publication(s) in a peer-reviewed journal
> a letter of introduction from the thesis supervisor
> birth certificate in English or translated
Applications from candidates with foreign qualifications are presented to the validation of prior learning commission (which meets once a month). Completed applications must reach the ED 1 week before the next meeting (otherwise they will be processed at the next meeting).
